I am becoming obsessed with checking up on the forum. Can anyone help me? I read everything - I have to say I have learnt tons, but just can't stop clicking in. Believe it or not I currently work 8-5, in an office (need to save to be able to do what I want, otherwise I would be digging and planting and feeding and happy). Dare I say that my staff seem to think I am incredibly busy, typing away, taking in all the e-mails etc, but I'm not I'm checking to see what someone said about water divining, vets and grass. Is this an illness? Has anyone else caught it? Have I just lost it all together?

;D
glad to hear it
this time last year, i was the same on the old River Cottage Forum. I was reading everything, even articles that i had no immediate interest in.
But it was because i was completely new to the whole world of growing your own. You soon learn that there is no 100% right way of doing most things, and that you can adapt things to suit your own needs/preferences
but one day you'll suddenly find you know lots of stuff about a broad range of subjects and your confidence about trying things is a lot higher. though there is still no substitute for trial and error - so you really should keep a diary or start a blog so that you can see what you've done/tried and how it went.
I'm the same as you, i "work" 9-5, but i can do it from home, so i don't even have to pretend i'm working and i spend more of my time wandering out to the garden to potter about!!!
don't worry, it's not a terminal addiction, as the season moves along, you'll get busier and have less time for forums ;)
-
Just keep telling yourslef - there are worse things in life you could be addicted to ha ha!
-
Yes - I click in several times a day and during the night when I am on nights. I don't always log in as I can usually learn from other posts. I must have the same disease as you. Is it an addiction or is it an Itis? No cure for it :o but you can live with it ;D
-
I'm on here all the time at present as bad back is restricting my outdoor work. Keeps me sane!!!!! On the other hand what better forum could there be to be addicted to.
-
If I sit still for too long I have to click on here and get my fix. I have learned lots and had many good laughs.
-
I click in and out as a break between jobs, just been hoovering upstairs, now I will stop and potter in the garden then finish off. I work from home so have to check E Mails anyway (good excuse) and after a phone call from my daughter today, looks like I will be on it even more as she has just joined, Oh, and stops me from eating to have a break ;D
-
My name's Miriam and I'm a TAS addict too!!!! I check in every evening. I don't always write on it, but I'm always having a nosey at what other people are saying.
Thank goodness I've found a friendly informative site that has like minded people - long may my addiction continue! ;D
-
I've spent over 5 days of my life on the forums - how sad is that?
-
yes it is very addictive, real people who are very honest and helpful, a rare thing these days ::)
-

You mean checking in 6 times a day is not normal? :o :o :o

you are not alone...:&>

I was bought an ipod touch gadget last year, and have just discovered i can use it as a wifi way of using the internet. this could mean I get even worse, music, TAS, ebay, e mails, even dvds while out in the garden.
-
I have only been in the TAS club for 3 months and one day...and have already clocked up 1 day and six hours!....i eat my dinner when logged in, and check for info every time I have a coffee......there is an assoicated tendancy to drink masses of tea and coffee, so one can have the excuse to log in!!
seven cups of coffee and a very twitchy Emma x
-
Well, I am on my 2nd coffee and TAS break, need more!!!!!
-
Its a good thing that the personal statistics for the forum only show the number of posts etc. and not the total number of times we log on. i tell you something the amount of time i watch TV has dropped dramatically....not that I watched much anyway.

Not sure I should have started this subject off. There are so many of us out there. I feel like a young one on Bebo or Face book and to think I thought they were missing something in life to be on those sites all the time. I think this site may rival them soon - sort of green social networking, if there is such a thing!?
-
I do feel the same - all the things I told my kids about making friends on-line...One of my friends is completely hooked on the Grow-your-own forum, wait until she gets into this one here! :&>
-
Thank goodness there are more of you - I didn't want to admit I was addicted but I will now the rest of you have!!!! I just love it, any excuse and I am on - I even take my laptop to bed with me!
-
Goodness - I go to bed to sleep! So my addiction can't be as bad as everyone else's - or can it? ;) ;D ;D ;D I have to deliberately force myself to walk past the study door each morning instead of switching on. If I didn't the cats and dogs wouldn't get fed or walked, the birds wouldn't get fed and let out, no hoovering or dusting would be done. Just as well my laptop is on a go slow or I'd be up all night too! ::)
-
I log ito my laptop on the coffee table facing the TV..yes I do both. Unlike some other social networks, we are not really interested in what people look like, how attractive they are and ow many "friends" they have, we are more interested in what people are growing or rearing..or am I wrong?????? A green network....
-
did you miss out on the thread a few weeks back, Sandy ? "Send in a photo, what do we all look like..." But you are right, of course, it's the interests we have in common! :&>
-
No, saw that thread but thought it was just to see who looks like there animals, Bec has bought some Cochin Chicks...not sure how you spell Cochin, and she said they reminded her of me....I would love osme of them, she bought them for £2 each!!!!
