Hello, not sure if this is in the correct place. Sure someone will point us in the right direction!! We have a very good home waiting here for 10/12 ex battery hens. We have had them before, and after a short period, to let them be familiar with the surroundings they would be free to roam. Where can we get some??? Thanks.

Contact the British Hen Welfare Trust Stewartshill. They will tell you where their nearest distribution point is and there they will tell you when the next lot are due in.

..but they dont seem keen to let a large number go to one home - they would only let us have 4 :(

The alternative Stewartshill is to find your nearest Commercial egg producer and ask to buy some. They might not be ex-bats, but they will be past their Commercial peak. In the case of Free-Rangers they will be coming up to their first moult. Locally here you can buy Warrens and the like for £1 each.
Defra may tell you where they are. They tend to keep a low profile. Alternatively vets or Animal Health.

Re-homed some ex-batts from BHWT in January. We only wanted 4, for my daughter who was keen to have some, but people were collecting at least a dozen birds, possibly more.
Maybe it depends how many they have/demand. ???
