Title: is it big enough???
Post by: suzie b on May 19, 2012, 09:23:19 am
Good morning all. Can someone tell me if this is big enough for my 6 hens. Its 12ft long by 6ft wide. They'll also have access to a 40ft long run (when not bucketing down). I'd love them to have the entire garden but just not possible. What do you think? :-\

Looks very luxurious to me - 40 feet is ample for 6 of them and 12 feet is fine for shorter periods

Bit of a squeeze at just over 1 square metre each Suzie, so they will be chomping at the wire to get into the main run. Having said that, that's all ours get as they don't get let out if its raining solid -they go stupid and get soaked to the skin whilst forraging. The older ones are a bit wiser now though and do go under shelter if it's too bad.

That's plenty space and you look like you've made a good job of it - if only everyone was as concerned as to their chooks welfare.  Good luck Suzie b, hope they repay you with good health and lots of eggs.
