Title: Rare Breed Turkeys - Tasty?
Post by: smudger on May 10, 2012, 05:08:54 pm
I have eaten the Bronze and Norfolk Black, anyone comment on the others?

Blue
Bourbon Red
British White
Bronze
Buff
Narragansett
Nebraskan
Norfolk Black
Pied/Cröllwitzer
Slate

(RBST List).

Also is there two enough to keep safe and company?  If we got a few more, is there an optimum eating time for it not being too tough?

hi
we have had slate and slatex norfolk black
very tasty

are you looking to have a male and female?
we have one male to 5 girls. no problems,
usually get them all killed in dec and freeze if we had too many. last year sold them all but this year we want to keep some for throughout the year. I would tend to kill once they are to the size you want
