Title: prereading for transportation competence cert
Post by: smudger on May 08, 2012, 11:11:09 pm
I have found a site that does the computer test but doesn't offer any training - what should I read to prepare for it?

Is it as simple as these guides?

I tried to memorise facts from DEFRA leaflets - waste of time.

Its a 4 potential answers on a computer.

Questions all very basic eg

You are transporting animals on the motorway and you suddenly feel unwell do you
a. Carry on and finish the trip.
b. Stop at the next service station and phone for help
c. Take a break and carry on.
d. forget this answer

When loading animals on to a trailer do you
a. Lead the way
b. ensure the lights are on in the trailer
c. Get behind the animals and encourage them in.
d. Forgotten this one.

So how can you swat for those.

It was held at the local Mart there was an exercise to get used to the computer
If you did not answer a question you could go back to it.

The guy said people fail, but I think people must just get mixed up.

It really is just common sense.  I tried to find stuff to read before mine, but couldn't find much.

Went along and was really nervous because I wasn't sure what to expect.

As Crofterloon says, there is a session to start with so that you can familiarise yourself with the computer and then you go through the multiple choice questions.

Didn't take very long at all.  The 'instructor' said that some people do fail...but usually because they aren't used to computers rather than getting questions wrong......or people that aren't familiar with animals - not sure why they would want to take the test though.

Good luck with yours....I'm sure you will do well.

Thx all. Just wondered if it was a bit technical (who can remember stopping distances?). I have found this dvd recommended by one test centre:
