field.  What can I do to help protect the goslings if/when they arrive?

I would carry geese and eggs into a more secure place, an outbuilding if you have one. Give each goose her own nest, partitioned off from each other by a bit of board or something. They will fuss a bit but if they are sitting tightly they should be o.k.
To leave them where they are is an invitation to the fox :( Good luck :)
