We are overrun with baby wild rabbits which are growing rapidly. They are very healthy.
I am at risk of losing all my veg whats the best way to trap them humanely with a view to eating.
-
I'm watching thsi with interest as we have a similar problem - but no answers, regrettably.
-
I know that you can buy humane rabbit traps. My neighbouring farmer uses loads of them all along some of his fence lines. I have no experience of them however......traps that is, not rabbits.
-
my partner will shoot some for our comsumption if you are near enough.
-
Now if you had both just put yourselves on the members map you'd be able to meet up!

i see littlekatewell lives in the scottish highlands a little too far from derbyshire for a few bunnies hee hee anyone else got bunny probs closer to us let me know.
-
you could always find someone with ferrets to help keep them under control. I know plenty of people down here who would love to be able to do it but you are just too far away. It may be worth asking around though. We have 7 Whippets :dog: and a terrier that keep our rabbit population to minimum. Good Luck

you could put extra fencing around the veg, until you get the population down.

Dan's been out shooting them tonight, little blighters. If he got a silencer, he migt be able to shoot more, quicker.
-
If he gets a silencer, I have a gunshy dog he can go shooting with - she'll point them for him, then retrieve them for your supper ;D ;D ;D
-
if you put up rabbit fencing you can set up a one way gate for rabbits to get into a holding pen . then you can just catch them with a net and despatch as needed
-
Thanks Annie. We don't need a pointer though - they're so bold, Dan could club them with the gun stock!
