Title: lamb with hugely swollen nose
Post by: summermeadows on May 04, 2012, 07:25:08 pm
Hi all, this is the first time I've seen this problem in a lamb. It's recently developed a hugely swollen nose and snout. It's breathing and feeding but obviously uncomfortable. We've given it a shot of LA antibiotic as we thought maybe it got a cut and picked up an infection, but is there a condition associated with this symptom that anyone knows about?  Thanks.

Yes I was going to say insect sting or snake bite ?, our youngster pony had a snake bite (suspected ) last year around this time, abcessed on his top lip/nose was very swollen and sore, he was dull and dribling very unpleasent, poor wee scone. Took a good while before he was back to normal.
Does your lamb have a high temp ?

Thanks for those suggestions - I hadn't thought of either of those possibilities. Poor little fellow!
