Hi, does anyone hatch these? I have hatched 2 and they seem quite different. I thought i might be able to sex them but have seen the males described as "henny fathered" so surely they should be the same.
1 has beautiful patterning around its eyes and a blonde underline with hints of ginger the other has a plain face with a more ginger underline. Have i bought eggs from a non pure bloodline?
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Helen

Hi
I have 2 hens that i hatched out, sadly no cockerel, they are lovely birds very flighty and mine wont stay in a pen so free range,i would have loved to have some more but when i went back to the breeder they had given up poultry and sold them all!
Mine both look the same, will post a picture for you later if this helps.

thank you. I had read that they are very flighty, my leghorn hens are always going walkabout. i am going to try and build a high fenced pen around lots of bushes so that the undergrowth might keep them happy. I bought the eggs from e bay and have some from a different breeder in the incubator now. Hopefully i can have 2 unrelated pens if these 2 i already have are different sexes. i have 12 eggs in the next hatch so stand a chance of having both sexes. Usually we hatch lots of cockerels when we want hens and i bought some wellsummer eggs to hatch a cock to go with the hens i already have and, of course i hatched hens, typical!

Here you go a pic of 1 of mine.Your fence will need to be VERY high mine easy clear my 5ft fence,we even tried taking a few feathers out of 1 side but it didn't work,we now just leave them to it they lay in the nest box and come back at night im happy.
