I think this is right iv been to 5 marts dingwall ,thainstone, hexam clitharo carlile naw all sales have chicks all 5 had none onley mine no rare breeds so whots gone wrong .this week the big 1 at thainstone very little rare breeds no silkies no chicks onley lots off layers. Rare minoratey breeds it said so where have all the rare breeds gone .bared plimouth rock most popular none silkies none blue black marran none. .? I was with mat hansons dad at hexam he bought all the rare breeds to his farm countrey file he said the same thing.

Perhaps they've stopped selling them because it's markets where all the stolen birds are sold VF. Theives have no other outlet to sell them without giving a location and identity away, so remove that and no thefts.

I went to Ffairfach poultry sale last Saturday and they had loads and loads of chicks. There were so many, chicks, ducklings, goslings, I doubt they were all sold.

Down here at salisbury market we have traditional breed sales every month and there are hundreds of lots.
Large fowl, bantams, ducks geese guinea fowl etc if you want to see whats selling have a look at southern counties auctioneers website, the next sale is on May 19th so the catalogue will be online the week before

VF you never mentioned lanark the catalogue for thainstone listed the full names and addresses of sellers lanark don't do that just a name and farm you have to piece it together :farmer:

I miss the poultry auction we used to go to in Penestone....Ive yet to find one over here. You have to find a seller and buy direct.(my german is not good enough for the phone Q+A's)
