I've planted out two lots of young tomato plants and also have seedlings grown myself. One lot of the older plants turned yellow, withered and died within a week of planting, the other lot and the seedlings are yellowing and not looking healthy at all. All three lots are different strains and I've been growing tomatoes for a few seasons now and never seen these problems. Is it magnesium deficiency or too much rain?

Or too cold depending on where you live OR - see the 'compost whinge' thread about contaminated compost.

i would think its a bit early to be planting out too.

It's was very warm and dry when I planted the older ones out - the younger ones are inside and have been put out for an hour or so every now and then (and then got drenched in the rain each time).
