This topic has come up on the pigs part of the forum but it seems to apply more to dogs so I'm putting a link here for those who may be interested \ concerned.

Thanks, David. This concerns me as my dogs do graze and the infected slugs could be anywhere. They don't need to eat a slug to contract the disease - even licking the slime is enough. Not all standard wormers can protect dogs but I understand Panacur and Milbemax do. There was a case in Glasgow recently, a Weimaraner I think, and a Brittany youngster bred by a friend of mine contracted the disease down in England - not sure exactly where. Both dogs were diagnosed early by very clever vets and I understand are recovering but it was touch and go for them both.
