Title: todays playlist,
Post by: chairmanphil on April 22, 2012, 08:01:34 pm
really liked the music to work to thread but couldn't think of anything on the spot that i listened to. so today i thought about it and here is the summary of what we worked to today,

1, the Bloodhound Gang, one fierce beer coaster

2, David Bowie, the man who sold the world

3, the theme to, paint your wagon

4, Tangerine Dream, tangram

then we just got into the wind chimes as the wind got up.

i worked for loads of people. worked for bands from 1988-99 then ran set and staging workshops for various people to 2007.  all in NYC and London. all so long ago now it seems like it happened to someone else! the best of it was in 1996-7 when i was working for the promotion companies SJM from Manchester and Metropolis music in London. first with Prodigy and second with Blur, all culminating in V97 festival in Chelmsford when i ran the back stage and dressing rooms and looked after the headline acts Blur and Prodigy. crazy dayz to be sure!

The Prodigy - Out Of Space (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qriH-8yeqcE#)

Blur - The Universal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrbxWOMpwfs#ws)

i had a promotions company in the early 90's and i met or hired some big names at the time but my biggest name drop would have 2 be getting hammered with hawkwind...  if im asked nowadays i pull out an old filofax with carlcox's wifes mobile number in, this was when mobiles were bricks ;D

yeah right, mobiles have ruined rock and roll. now they can find you whenever they want to! where is the fun in that? used to go and pay to see hawkwind back in the day. Reading 86 cronicals of the black sword! them were the dayz!

With ChairmanPhil's music credentials I feel a bit reserved about sharing my play list.
But : I found
Bridge of sighs - Robin Trower.

What a gem - reminded me of bunking off in the sixth form and drinking coffee with mates and girls !!!!!!

Anyone know this album?

1, Laurie Anderson, home of the brave.

2, the Pogues, if i should fall from grace of god. which i have not listened to in full for about 20 years. what a fine piece of work!

3, Red Snapper, skinned and boned.

then i had to unplug and reset some things, oh and rescue the wind chimes as they were going a bit kamikaze in the gale!

so now it looks like this from my listening chair DITW. i am very much a separates man!  8)

Ahhhhh there's something about that smoochy moochy funky seventies jazz sound that just takes your hips and shoulders and arms and makes them WIGGLE and wriggle and flail your limbs around. No wonder people danced the way they did in the late 60s/early 70s

did my first gig for about 12 years last night for my youngest girl Ynes 14th birthday party. there were 80 kids and about 15 bottles of coke, cake, brownies and hyperactivity! set a pa system, put up the lights and sat with Bollo my DJ mate and made sure there wasn't too much trouble. played some new stuff to start and then went back to 91-2 and started playing some old school hardcore! it was great and forgot how much i loved doing it all! today my back aches like it is broken and there are a few sore heads and big gig blues! so glad i don't do it for a living anymore but so glad i did it all! this one went down well and it is filmed at the Astoria London in 91 and that was my second home through the 90s. so love my land and the piece and quiet today. think i must be getting old!
