Our last lamb was born this morning, about 10:00 am, nice civilised time again , Yet another ram lamb so we are not too bothered as he will be line 1 significant , Will tag him tomorrow then they can all move out of the barn and onto some grass .

Sorry, what does that mean ???
Something to do with breeding?

I think I'd like to be "Line 1 significant" ;D
Congratulations, tizaala - nice feeling, yes?

Well done. You can breathe again ;D ;D. Can you explain line 1 etc please (pardon my lackof knowledge) :-[ :-[

Hurray, hurray, it's good when they're all safely out isn't it
My sheep are done now, just Ellie (one goat) to go. I might go and read the first bit of this reply loudly to her :D

Lucky you mine haven't even started yet!

Ah - congrats Tizaala
Such a relief when it's over for another year. Now a whole new set of anxieties - are they going to get enough milk? Will they stay well? are they going to make breed standard? what is number 1 line breeding? ;) ;D
Last night lying in bed listening to (more) torrential rain meeting down on the caravan roof I do worry that they are going to die of wetness :'( :'(

As I understand it : Castlemilk Moorit : this breed was rescued from extinction from only 10 individuals it depends on how much of the original surviver's blood is in your lines. OK, you have line 1/2/3 significant individual for a particular bloodline , so by choosing your lines carefully you can predict how significant the offspring will be, Line 1 is the most desirable.
OK, it's nice to come through our first season's lambing with this breed and get them delivered without any disasters, but to get things in proportion, it was only 7 ewes lambing in ideal conditions and being monitored on cctv in a barn. I only had to help on one occasion with a misplaced front leg that needed bringing forward, I think a lot of people have had a lot harder season in foul conditions and with a lot of sad stories to tell at the end of it, they have my undying admiration and sympathy.
Thanks for all your kind comments.
