Paranoia setting in already though ::)
Mum doesn't have very big teats/udder and I'm wondering if little one is getting milk.
From the fact the isn't hunched, isn't cold and is trying to bounce around already I think she must have had some, but i'll offer her a drop more in a bit anyway.
I figure her milk will come in big style now she has dropped the afterbirth and has settled down to eat :)

Oooops! :-[
Forgot to add, thank you everyone ;D

Try not to worry too much CW sit, observe & enjoy.
Some of us ave little boobies, others big boobies, so long as the milk flows the baby can take it's fill. As you say baby is looking content.
-
yay!!

Noooo - don't go feeding her. Let mum get on with it.
Size of udder or teats has nothing to do with amount of milk. Plenty of flat chested women successfully breast feed. She won't let you draw any milk. If the lamb is happy, she's getting what she needs, no reason on earth why there should be a problem.
Seriously I'd have concluded my first Shetland to lamb had no milk cos I couldn't draw any, wasnt feeding cos I never saw it happen, nor did I ever see the lamb poo. But the lamb was fine so clearly all those things were going on.
A hungry lamb is obvious. It cries lots, is obviously miserable and unsettled and is hunched up with an arched back and seriously concave (not the normal thinness of Shetland lambs) sides.
This lamb of yours looks fine, try to relax and let nature get on with raising lambs.

I've just used the lamblac I mixed on the dogs food!
They loved it.
Thankies all, common sense tells me she is fine, and would at least be shivering or hunched on a cold night if she hadn't had a belly full. OCD on the other hand tells me all sorts of other things ::)
Fortunately I have a back up team this year (you lot) to run it past before I cock up :D :D
One more check in an hour, them if everyone is still grazing I'm off to bed ;D
-
Well done
-
Congratulations, Colliwoman!
Our first two sets of twins also appeared yesterday, and also around Grand National time! (Despite being a farmer's daughter and much used to lambing, I was very, very excited!) Waiting for the other ladies to produce now.
:)

Well done you

Neptune was joined at 06:00 by little Venus
So that's 2 done 3 to go, and Tarragon is away from the flock so I'm guessing she's next!
I would post pics of Venus, but 1 forgot to put the card back in the camera ::) and 2 she is Identical to Neptune except slightly smaller ;D
I'm of for a kip

Good news ;D Enjoy your nap. Yes, I checked at 2 and 5.30 this morning, nothing going on so I went back to bed ;D
-
Great news Colliewoman. Looking forward to hearing about (and seeing pics of) the whole solar system! ;D
-
;DThe people who's land I use named Neptune (horse that won the national??) We thought it would be a good theme to carry on, except now I want a set of twins so i can call them Solar and Lunar
-
-
Well done! Looks a bonny lamb.
-
Congrats, she's gorgeous
-
Do stop worrying....when they do feed it seems only for such a short time that it does not seem possible that they get enough, but they do. Remember they are grassland animals and must be ready to flee at very little notice. Mother nature is wonderful!
-
Great news! We had first lamb today! Nerves shot to pieces!
