Hi Everyone,
Im afraid Im a bit of a newbie to the outdoor world but have delevloped a keen interets in growing herbs and grass indoors for my guinea pigs. I would like a bigger challenge and I am looking for an allotment near Bathgate in West Lothain. Could anyone point me in the right direction on how to find an allotment and a user friendly guide on how to get it up and going?
Also just a side point are dogs allowed in allotment space, I have a small border terrier and I had hoped to take her along for company if I get hold of a space?

Welcome to the greatest forum Hazeyg, up in Aberdeenshire to can't help on your allotment question but I'm sure someone will help soon :thumbsup:

Hi :wave: from not far away in Clackmannan....the council should be able to put you in touch with a contact for the allotment association, I had one some years ago at the back of my garden so very very handy, there are often weighting lists for allotments now due to them being popular. Allotments all have thier own rules about live stock, and probaly dogs as if they did allow them people are not all good at keeping them off others plots!!! THe library may help....wonder if we have some bathgaters on here!!!!! Welcome, my digging days are just for my small garden for worms for the hens...my brother grows grasses and was after some seeds on the net, one person though he ment the hippy sort of grass and another wanted to know how many hectors of the stuff!!!!!!

Yeah thats a good point- I dont suppose everyone would keep their dog on the lead. I'd have to as my pup will eat anything he he!
I shall email the council, I have a friend in Glasgow that has just got a plot of land- jealous, but tis a bit far away and Id really like to take credit for either o good or a rubbish crop he he.
It seems like a lovely forum, hoping to learn lots and lots.
Yes I typed in google"grow grass indoors" that was my first hit also, done in complete innocence!
Ive tried a "cat grass" and now Im trying rye grass but its mixed with another grass beggining with F, that apparently doesnt grow well inside- so I hold out little hope ha ha! I was thinking about trying to compost my guine pig waste but inside that might get a bit wiffy ha ha!

SO the guinea post- would work? I have a little balcony thing- although it could waft into the neghbour below ha ha! This could be my weekend project ;D. I wonder if it will work small scale

Forgive me.. I tend to post in the humour section. OH is the brains. All I know about compost
is what I step in daily.. ;D ;D and some would say talk :D
I do think it possible but practical ? needs a better head than mine - post the Q in the
gardening section.
