Title: Sheep and Trees?

We're planning to plant trees in our sheep paddocks, can anyone advise what not to plant re; poisonous?? I have got a book but cannot find it!"!

There's been a thread before about this. Laburnum is poisonous, that's my knowledge. My horse pasture book says yew, box, privet and laurel. Also oak, if eaten in large quantities but that may not apply to sheep.

You'll need to protect them well - our Jinx loves a bit if bark, although the other two don't seem interested.

If you plant Willow, Hazel or Lime, you can feed the leaves to the sheep ! Saves composting them when you prune.

Thanks, we're now planting crab apple, pear and mountain ash! protecting with stakes and wire!!
