Hi all and guess what!!!
30 days of patience..............waiting ::), caring, turning eggs, checking temperature, checking humidity, building brooder, restoring and painting duck house...........48 hours of fear after the first signs of pipping, whether they will be strong enough to make it out of their shell, is the temperature right ???? is the humidity too high or too low ????...............finally, they made it............. I am very proud!!!! All my 5 ducklings have hatched and are now a week old. 5 lively ducklings, strong, healthy, noisy, very lively and soooooooooooo beautiful :&> :&> :&> :&> :&>

OK, just uploaded a photo to try, as I've not done this before and I had to re-size it. Lets hope it'll work. Here's the first 3 of the duckings (the other 2 hatched the following day)

Beautiful, congratulations!
I've collected 6 duck eggs so far, for after the chicken eggs hatch (hopefully) then I've got my eye on some large light Sussex eggs ;)

Awwww  thank you

These are Aylesburys and they are BIG!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I wonder if they will be as big as geese, looking at their size now. I am so chuffed. This was my first try at hatching after loosing all of my beloved ducks to a fox in one night. I got the eggs of ebay and can't believe all of them hatched.

Here's a photo I took today. They are now a week old and doubled in size

 Well done, they are gorgeous! They do grow incredibly quick,it is amazing to see them within a few weeks changing so rapidly, just so adorable ;D

Brilliant - luv the pics - what do you feed them on for the first week or so?
Ours are due on the 15th April - mum is sitting on 15 (muscovies).
-
They look JUST like the ones in my bathroom, except mine aren't lovely and fluffy like that, :'( and the ducks I hatched are plain old ordinary black and grey cross Swedish Blue/Khaki Campbells :(. Can you tell which are boys and which are girls yet?
-
Thanks Mak. I am feeding them on baby chic crumbs from the organic feed company, which I get from my local scats store. This food is suitable for ducklings, as it drug free and does not contain any coccidiostat, as some chic crumbs have. It costs a little more, about £1 more than ordinary chic crumbs for a 5 kg bag, but better be safe than sorry.
Good luck with your muscovies, hope all goes well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you expecting soon :)

Hi doganjo and thanks for your mail too. No, I can't see what sex they are yet, not until they get their proper feathers (the drakes have the curly tail feather) and until they get their quacks, which is much louder in the girls. Girls would be lovely, of course, for their eggs, so fingers crossed. Plain old ordinary, love that expression. It's not the colors, it's their characters. To me ALL ducks are simply lovely!!!!!!

I have 2 Saxony drakes and i love having them around. they sleep with my chickens. they were part of a clutch that a chicken was sitting but a fox dug under the run and got her plus damaged most of the eggs. we hatched them in the incubator and were delighted to get live ducklings. they are now in their 2nd year.
