We have pigs (over a hundred of them) sheep, chickens and ducks....pigs, sheep and chickens I can deal with just about any problem, but I've never had a lame duck so I'm looking to pick your brains please!
Two of our five Pekin Ducks have over the last couple of days developed a bit of a waddle (more than normal ::) ) but I noticed last night that one was trying its best not to have to get up and walk.
She was easy to catch and it was clear to see there was a big difference between her two 'ankles'. One was slender with a deep orange leg and foot but the other leg was paler in colour and the ankle joint was swollen like a ball both on top and underneath. Hopefully the couple of pictures I have taken shows what I mean...
Obviously I will take her to the vet but has anyone experienced this? Is it treatable? Is there something I can give her now?
Many thanks for your help.

I'm guessing it's a sprained ankle. I had a duck limping with a similar looking leg - too much attention from the drake I think. It did mend. Can you give them anything - well cat Metacam if you happened to have some handy (I have an arthritic cat so I do). It did mend, but seemed to take quite a while.
What's your duck to drake ratio like?
