Is that when we get warewolfs and people go a bit loopy. My mum was a psychiatric nurse for years and used to be able to tell by the moons cycles how her shift would go, I suppose it affects everything just from animals, humas, fish and growing stuff or I am talking nonsense and on the wrong track?

lol not hear it called that before
but i have tried biodynamic technics.
If it all to do with the water content of things then yeah it is possible as the moon controll the pull of water.

I have heard of it before but never followed it , or even looked into too much . Not that I disagree with it , just never really thought about it !! Looks like a good read though , on the site above...
cheers

its to do with
Moon Phase: waxing or waning.
Moon Path: ascending or desending.
Constellation: which one is the moon passing in fornt of.
Plant Aspect: what part needs stimulation.
anyone still interested or am i boring everyone
-
The funny thing was when I had my first child, I took her in my arms and she gazed at the moon comming through the hospital window, then as she grew older I told her loads of fairy stories (made up) then I added about full moon and fairy mounds etc, WHO said she would go out on a full moon to find one!!!!! I used to worry she would, strangely enough, she is a scientist and is interested in anything, mainly Chemistry and Physics, she takes after my brother, he would understand as he has a telescope and studies astronomy, his, and my idol is Patric Muir...stars at night man!!!! I just have too much on my mind to concentrate on other stuff but, I get the jist, when the moon can pull the sea and effect people so much, of course it will effect everything...
-
Plant stimulation? ???I just stick 'em in the ground and hope the slugs or the chickens and ducks don't get 'em ::) ;)
-
just to bore you a little more doganjo
say your are growing spuds. these are a root vegetable. so the part of the plant you want to stimulate is the root under the ground.
so when you are sowing its good so they say to:
Moon Phase: Waning moon (getting smaller). the soil is absorbing, growing energies are pulled down.
Moon Path: Descending (time visible in the sky is less) saps are drawn down. good time to plant/transplant seedlings.
Constellation: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo ( earth sign) enhances root aspect of the plant
Aspect: Root (4 in total Flower, Leave, Fruit) we want to stimulate to root.
im a complete novice but find the topic very interesting.

I get the idea, some makes sense . not sure if it is all worthy. I just chuck my veg in when i have the time and when the weather is ok.
Isn't sydonic cycles that bike shop in hebden bridge? next to the futon centre.

I'm a Capricorn, does that mean my tatties will grow fine? lol
-
I'm a virgo, on the cusp of turnip.
-
well if you are not going to take this seriously. lol
-
Sorry, no offence intended but I really can't see this being relevant in growing veg.

we use the 'system' a week after the last full moon in april to start planting out tubers and roots and the week after the last full moon in may to plant out bedding plants this way we USUALLY miss the hard frosts
-
I wouldn't just put it down as nonsense. A lot of folk work with the biodynamic method and say their crops are healthier, bigger and less prone to get pests than ordinary organic crops. For that alone it's worth a go but I find it hard enough to get everything done anyway so much depending on the weather...The best planting calendar is by Maria Thun, which also gives good advice about companion planting etc. :&>

Have to say that I have used it as well, after reading around it a bit first. I'm not any kind of hippy or new age type, I am a scientist with a cynical edge, but there does seem to be something in it. The moon has a big effect on tides, so it's not a huge leap really to think about the way the moon's phases affect the water in plants and roots.
-
the 'system' is a good method as the moon control water , Water is need as one of the elements of plant growth . If you can get your head around the science bit then it is okay. It's just to timing i find difficult as i have a very busy schedule sometimes and then quite other times so i find it difficult to get them at the right time.
I think the system is best for people who have regular schedule.
