Each night I take Sasha our German Shepherd for a small walk and
when we return she get 6 little bone shape biscuits as a treat.
Every now and then she goes out herself (on our land) comes back
and sits nicely for her biscuits - I tell her she doesn't get biscuits if she
takes herself for a walk - shes not buying it - she sits and waits and waits
until I give in.
OH and I have noticed she wants to take herself for a walk 2 -3 times a night now
She thinks shes smart, but shes not yet realised that I've reduce her little boney biscuits each time.
How long before the dog learns to count ? ;D

My friend's Brittanys are that smart - there is a ritual at breakfast (I've visited and watched it unfold ;D) Jan and Mike have their breakfast at the table, the dogs are lying quietly over by the settee. Mike finished, Jan finishes, Jan clears the table, Mike sits back takes a small table brush, brushes his own place mat and immediately Merlin and Ghillie are at his side. Jan picks up a tin from the worktop, hands it to Mick who carefully extracts 4 cat biscuits for each dog from the tin, puts the lid back, hands it back to Jan. He then throws each dog in turn their four treats. If he stops at any other number they sit and wait. The second the last treat is thrown they leave and go back to where they were lying.
Can they count? ::)

... Sasha can already count, but while ever you're still giving her biscuits, she'll keep on taking them however small or few!
And seeing as you've already given in ::)

Sasha still gets the same amount of biscuits ! 6 in total
If she goes out before I walk her she gets 2 on return
Then when I walk her she gets the remainder 4. 2 from me 2 from OH
The point is sasha wants 6 each time! but she doesn't get them!
She just think she deserves them ;D
