Post by: Berkshire Boy on March 17, 2012, 12:16:54 pm

Hi, I am no expert and hopefully someone with more years experience than me will be a long soon. I believe you can seed straight away and probably the sooner the better as many people recommend fertilising about 6 -8 weeks after overseeding not prior to. Fertilising prior to overseeding can cause the existing grass and any weeds to spurt on and reduce the room for new seed to come through. So get the seed on as soon as possible which I believe is straight away. Good luck, we are just about to overseed.

Thanks Miss Piggy,
As usual I do things the wrong way round but I will know better next time. It is all seeded now all I need is some rain not something you usually say in Wales.

Seeds generally germinate when the ground temperature (not surface temp) gets to 5 degC which it will have done in Pembrokeshire.
