Title: first blossoms!
Post by: northfifeduckling on April 01, 2009, 10:53:42 pm
My treasured Juneberry is about to flower, I'm delighted! She's only 2 years old and I can't wait to make my first fruit salad and jam with the berries! That makes up for the disappointing mulberry. :&>

Some of our fruit trees are bursting into leaf - really feels like spring now.

What's a Juneberry?

I imported mine in a suitcase from Germany, lol, don't know if garden centres sell them here! I's worth pestering them though, because these really are wonderful fruit (if you get to them before the blackbirds do!). :&>

The trees look lovely  ;D and being able to present someone with 'sugar plum' jam would be a great pressie me thinks  ;D
You can get them in the UK - I found this link (among many) just googled the species name

Good luck with the harvest & bird protection NFD

just on the topic of blossoms - several of my new fruit trees are already starting to blossom - especially the Buere hardt pear tree i got

i'm so excited, when they arrived back in march they looked like twigs, but they've all come on nicely, i'm hoping to get my first apples, pears and plums this year

now, must get back to the garden centre and get some more blackberries, blue berries, cranberries bought

That's the one we have, it's in full bloom now, stunning. Can't wait for the fruit, the frame of the old gazebo is waiting to be covered with netting once it's flowering beauty's gone.

Our apples, pears are in flower. The blackcurrants aren't far away or the gooseberries (if the sawfly doesn't get them!). Lovely, lovely.
