Hi Folks,
I have been keeping hens for a few years now. I have kindly been given approx 1 acre of land and have decided to keep a couple of pigs.
I'm currently doing my research etc, but would appreciate details of any breeders in the South Lanarkshire area. Someone I can talk to, and perhaps even purchase my first 2 from.
Any information is much appreciated.

welcome to the world of pigs your nearest piggy person would be happy hippy but depends on what breed you want and for what purpose you are wanting them don't just be tempted by the first spotty /stripey pig you see also if you want pedigree or are happy with cross breeds two weeks time there is a pig sale at lanark but you would need to have in place your cph number housing and fencing don't be tempted by the first pig you or your family see and certainly don't be tempted by £5 specials :farmer:

Thanks Robert,
I'm very lucky in that I am 5 mins from Lanark, and also have close contacts with staff there. I am currently applying for my CPH number, and looking at my fencing and housing.
Basically the route would be for meat, and not commercial in any way, I would be looking for something easy to manage and keep, although I have ha past experience of farming.
I'll certainly make sure I'm at Lanark for a look in a couple of weeks to have a look.
I'm a great believer in talking face to face with people rather than just the text. I did this with the chooks and it paid dividends.
