Title: Hi Newby introducing myself
Post by: zob2zob on March 31, 2009, 11:56:15 pm
Hi there,
Am getting back into the smallholding life...again...after being so certain as a child one will never want to do it again..suddenly after toying with unbroken New forest ponies, & a goat, a trio of geese & 30 chickens, which the fox had in 3 sittings, I now have bought 6 Ryeland Sheep, looking for anyone with info on these, as have mixture of reg. & un reg. oh & 2 of which are weather's destined for my & other friends dinner tables. & the local farm shop.
I have a 'spare' reg ram which is proven, blue tongue vac, & scrapie tested. I would love to swap him for a ewe with a lamb or lambs at foot ( + money too). A colored shearling un reg which is either heading for the table or to be exchanged for a ewe...
I am looking for some geese, & possibly some turkeys......Already have some 4 call ducks, 2 aylesbury's & a Muscovy lavender female, 1 hen which escaped the Fox.......

Mad, busy fun, wouldn't change it for the world.....

Lorna

Hi, I am actually based about 4.5 miles from jct. 4a M3, on the Hampshire/Berkshire Boarder.
Ihave now got my trio of white broad breasted turkeys who have just started laying, Snoll drop, snowbell & snowball, guinea foul, did have 3, 2 escaped, fox has definetly had one, so that was upsetting.

Anyone else near by? am looking to share costs on sheep meds, etc if an one is interested as smallest ammount is always for 25....

Can happily take advice about guinea foul as I bought them for alarm purpose but if they are that neurotic they arn't ever going to be fun....basically did't come out of house for 2 days then shen they did come out got scared of sheep & 2 shoot off over the fencing & other ran back into house.
Any ideas??

Are geese not the best as an alarm system?
