I've got a Highland cow that is 8 months pregnant and I've noticed that when she walks she tends to swing her back right leg out. This is the first year of having cows-in-calf so I don't know whether this is typical due to the growing calf or whether it might be a sign of something else. Am I being a fussy mother? ???

what like would you be if you were cartying a calf :farmer:

I don't know much about cows admittedly but.... If she were a ewe I would suggest checking her udders.
I have seen mastitic ewes swing a hind leg out to avoid a painful udder. More likely to happen after the birth I know but maybe worth a check?

Hi colliewoman, nope, definitely not mastitis, I check her udders regularly when I (ahem) brush her and they are soft and a normal temperature.

Spot on, glad to hear it
