Title: what age best for bacon?
Post by: Leri on March 06, 2012, 06:59:22 pm
Hi. Have four female GOS x large black for bacon. Their brothers have gone for pork about a month ago. They are coming up 29 weeks old now. We have taken pigs at 33 weeks before and got bacon from them and they are looking quite long in their bodies now. Just wondered what age people tend to take them, Thanks

you can take bacon from any size of pig at any age   the biggest factor is the eye that is one the rasher that is the meat part       what weight were the boys when they went      the long back just means you get more bacon per side :farmer:
