Badger's fleece was coming off in swathes so I decided to clip it off today. It also gave me a chance to properly look her over and make sure she didn't have some other sheep ailment - thankfully it must have been when she was ill as there is no sign of any biting creatures, her skin is good and undercoat looks very healthy. Most of it just pulled away but the bit round her neck didn't want to come off and my (horse) clippers were getting blunt. I really am going to have to invest in some proper sheep shears ::). I just tidied up the neck bit into a ruff and hope the weather doesn't turn too cold :-\. She does have access to shelter though, so she should be okay. I suppose lambs born at this time don't have much more coat and they are fine.

FANTASTIC : :trophy: no sore throat for Badger and keep any snuffles at bay. Perhaps you should patent it ;D

reminds me of a news item a few years ago where some japanese con men were shearing young sheep to look like poodles and selling them for 100's of pounds

Funny thing is I went away for a week, and on my return Tiny had also shedded all her coat - so no need for shearing! Although their paddock is now covered with grey wool ::).
Interesting that the stress caused this effect - it must have been the worms.

If your sheep had a high temperature they will shed and certain antibiotics make them shed too.
But of course some breeds also do it naturally
. I think she looks great :trophy:

Hmm that's interesting also, as these two had AB jabs while they were in ...
