Title: attacked chicken
Post by: spikey_fridge on February 27, 2012, 07:28:01 pm
its sitting in the washing basket with beak open like panting? no obvious injuries but feathers missing. this happened 4am last night and its still alive.
how long does stress last for? i've given it sugar water with syringe and a mix of molasses, egg yolk, feed and water.
moving around but cant stand. keels over to left side but legs seem not to be broken.
anything else i can do?

I would say you are doing everything you can for it. I have had stressed chooks that stay stressed for an hour or so and ones that have been stressed for a night. It seems to differ. Hopefully yours will be ok by the morning.

eldest said a cat but i'm sure it was a fox. we live next door to woods so inevitable wildlife about. as i told the kids, death is a part of life whatever form it takes and we have to accept that these things happen.
