I got a lamb here - it didnt have an easy start as its mother was poorly and couldnt feed. I have managed to get the ewe up to a good speed whilst feeding the boy colustrum and milk and startup minerals, but after two mornings he has still not had his first poo - he looks like he is straining but cant do it. He feels bloated. I gave hime some vegetal oil about 9 this morning then put a little up his backside at 12. I tried to have a look for obstructions but he is very little.
What else can I do? I can some more oil now that I am warming to blood temperature and will have anothr go up the rear as it didi seems to give him relief and a little gas passed - but I think the stopper is stopped as it were. What else could I do now? Any other remidies?

Give him an enema 10 to 20 ml of warm soapy water, i use a syringe and a rubber stomach tube. IF nothing happens try again after maybe 15 mins, it is vital he passes or it will poison him. Does he have an anus???

hi.
hope its corrected itself howevr a bit of adice u might find useful, warm water and cotton wool if you rub the anus after feedng with warm water on something like cotton wool emulating the mother licking its bum this does help as i think its the reason the mum does it, hope its some use

Only time will tell now - have tried all, he looks more perky than he ever has? Even caught him drinking of mum? Maybe he has passed and its just not left a mark cos all the oils? Hope so, but I cant see it in the pen (like its gona be easy to find!) . Even gave him another little bocky top up earlier as he was looking. Only the 3 oclock feed will tell. Hope hes comfortable, and he looks more comfortable now than at any other time.
Bleeding sheepies ;) - sure he still hasnt passed and will be keeping an eye on the little bastrd.
Thx all

Baz, if he's with mum she may be licking it up, hence you not finding it. Does he still look bloated? Does he look bloated before you feed him?

Just took him to the vets (as she had a smaller finger lol) - she didnt manage to find anything in the last stages of his rectum area which was 'caverness' but after a few attempts managed to get a little bit of a shity finger - luckily this means he has all the pipework.
Just a case of feeding him and watching for bloating, if it doesnt come and he gets too bloated or looks uncomfortable then its back to the vets.
Poor little bleeder has 'rodgered' for 24 hours and still not passing anything - I think the blockage is also befor the pee pee bit too so he cant even do that.
Your right though - I'm going to put him in his own little area now and hopefully will make it easier to see if he has gone. I have got some baby soap today as opposed to washing up soap as hopefully it will be a little kinda to him.
Had a few troubles this year and its by far not over. Hope he lives this one as he is a cutty.
Thanks for all your advice.
