Title: Utility Chicken Breeds - Hatching Eggs wanted - W. Somerset / Devon
Post by: smudger on February 20, 2012, 09:17:06 am
After some fantastic feedback on dual purpose chickens I am looking for hatching eggs from the following breeds, ideally from people who have been trying to maintain the true utility nature of the breeds (ie eggs and carcase quality):

Light Sussex
RIR
English Cuckoo Marans
Barnvelders
Indian Game
Speckled Sussex
Marsh Daisies
(if anyone wants to recommend any more Rare Breeds, let me know)

Prefer to collect, hence why I am limiting region. However, we are occasionally in Birmingham, so could collect off the M5 corridor.

Many thx.

Last year there was a chap from near Dorchester selling on E-bay.  Can't remember  his name but he was setting up with vaious breeds including Light Sussex, and was happy for collection from his site.

Bugger, can't help with that list.
But my wyandottes are laying something stupid at the moment, you can have some of them if you like?
I am very near Glastonbury ;)

Hi Smudger,

We have Cornish Game Birds which have just come into lay. First batch going into the incubator this week.

Fairly good layer and brilliant meat.

Give me a call 07815 139739 or PM.  We are in the Blackdown Hills 8 miles from Wellington/Taunton TA3 and 6 miles from the A303.

Regards

Fred Wing
