Now I love chocolate as much as, probably more than, the next woman, but I've never been able to eat it first thing. BH, however, starts his day on Tunnocks Caramel Wafers (without which the whole of British Agriculture would grind to a halt :D) and has done for ever. He has his proper breakfast after he's done the first feeds.

....... :o chocolate for breakfast !! ::) - only acceptable if you grate it and mix it in your porridge :yum:

YUK!!! Noooooo.............. ONLY salt in porridge!!!!! ;D
-
I had porridge with water the other day and that was bad enough. I don't think I could face having salt in it as well. I miss the lashings of golden syrup :yum:

Chocolate for breakfast ?
mmm depends if you weigh more than you should and if you don't want to. Otherwise I would say eat what you want and enjoy.
If I take breakfast then my favourite is smoked mackerel and hummus on rye biscuits. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Left over soup, left over stew and dumplings, left over roast.......... :yum: :yum: :yum:

Definitely OK - but I may be biased as my wake up drink is chocolate according to the following recipe:-
1 heaped tsp cocoa powder
4 - 6 heaped tsp dark brown soft sugar (approx - it doesn't heap properly)
add a little milk and mix to a paste
add 3 - 4 heaped tsp horlicks - you need to add a bit more milk at this point
after mixing vigorously you should have 1/3 - 1/2 a mug of thick chocolaty paste
Mix in milk to a full mug and warm to taste
Good for waking you up and energizing you on a cold early start ;D ;D ;D

Chocolate for breakfast is normal for me. It's actually taken after my weetabix but it is there......................it's also there after elevenses, lunch, dinner, supper, tea and any other snack that takes my fancy ::)
My record for chocolate consumption is a 1kg bar in one sitting.................too much? How 'bout discussing that? ;D ;D

Only on Christmas Day, IMHO ;D
-
christmas day breakfast is bucks fizz unless im forced to drive for some stupid reason
-
It's part of your five a day along with alcohol and sugar. They are, after all, vegetables...
-
No chocolate isn't appropriate as breakfast.
It plays a far more vital role than a mere meal.
Chocolate is kept beside the bed to be consumed the nano second one wakes up, ideally before even sitting upright. It is akin to breathing and plays a vital role in day to day functions.
Besides eating it for breakfast then suggests the idea that you can't then have a fry up because one has already had breakfast....

The heir to our debts likes to drink coffee through a KitKat. He bites the ends off first and then sucks. Has to be done fast or it becomes a bit messy...
Coffee is of course another of your five a day. Coffee beans are a fruit aren't they?

I just have to try that. Will report back :D

The spare, the heir's brother, went off to uni last year and we finally got an excavator into his bedroom this morning.
We discussed the likely identity of the black dust in his sealed plastic lunchbox and thought it had probably been a sandwich. But given he's been back a few times for fleeting visits since he departed we were surprised that he hadn't noticed the glass of milk, or rather the glass of biohazard.
-
Breakfast in Brittany is a steaming bowl of hot, milky chocolate into which you dip you bread, brioche, croissante or whatever takes your fancy.
Pity I'm allergic to lactose...................................., love to watch......., and smell the hot chocolate, though..........!

Hope you don't get the bill for fumigating his uni lodgings when he leaves. ;D

He's sharing with seven girls and appears to be taking a minimalist approach to his uni existence. He did mention having to buy bleach but suspect that might be to clean up after a night out. Seven girls....

Tell him to try with a penguin (biscuit!) nibble off opposite corners, dunk into coffee and suck :yum: :yum: :yum:

Just reminded that 30 years ago my french girlfriend and I toured Scotland eating Cadburys Hazel Nut Chocolate melted in a teaspoon in black coffee. We left melted chocolate all over Scotland !!

This works best with cadburys chocolate fingers, a box full should do a large coffee :-)

I'm delighted to find so many fellow food deviants here

nearly every cereal in France has some form of chocolate in it - including Special K

I was going to say that, plus half the brioches you buy have chocolate bits in, and dont forget the pain au chocolat!!
I personally DONT do chocolate for breakfast unless OH gets me pains aux chocs straight from our bakery for a special treat. Normally I have either scrambled or boiled eggs, with crispbreads spread with low fat spread and Marmite. Eggs and Marmite go so well together. As our hens have gone into overdrive at the moment and OH has gone off eggs, Im having to try and get through them alone!
-
I had boiled eggs for lunch today. Scrummy. I boiled extra so I could make egg mayo sandwiches tomorrow.
-
Chocolate cereals !
yes - I remember now that we could only buy such when the grandchildren and my son came out last year. My son had chocolate rice crispiest, pain au chocolate and on some days hot chocolate for breakfast. He told me off because he was gaining weight and I put too much out on the table for him to choose from. Not sure he would have joined me in an orange when he could have chocolate. Hes still a bit fat.

:-[ I don't like chocolate :-[ :-[ ::)

Well, I used the Co-op plain version not the branded one - not sure if that made the difference. In truth, I didn't really get the coffee into my mouth, but enough came up the 'straw' so that the melty coffee-flavoured soggy stick was scrummy! :yum: :D Yet another bad habit to add to the list... ::)

and this is clearly where we need a like button ;D ;D ;D

We had an au pair briefly who for breakfast poured herself a cup of black tea and a bowl of dry muesli and dunked each spoonful of muesli into the tea before eating it.
I've never tried the KitKat technique. Sounds like it ought to be included in the deep-fried Mars bar cookery book.

I am home alone and have not been to the shops for a bit.
Today I had a breakfast after sorting out the birds, pigs and dog.
1 tin of sardines ( in olive oil) a sliced tomatoes and a sliced onion with oil and pepper.
Beats choclate !
-
ooh sardines for breakfast - dont think I could manage that - kedgeree yes, sardine no.
-
Sardines - smoked mackeral or sweet pickled herring - best breakfasts ever. Makes me feel so refreshed and alert ready for the day ahead. Call to all chocolate junkies - try fish for breakfast after a few weeks you will be serving up the olives, cucumber or pickles too. NO BREAD though ! :D :D
