Title: I want to cry....
Post by: egglady on February 14, 2012, 05:43:37 pm
Have had my peppers and tomatoes in the electric propagator for a few weeks now.....just went to see where they are all up......and want to cry :(

We had a power cut last Friday for a few hours...seems hubby switched off the plug at the wall and then forgot to switch it back on!  Four days with no heat and in a very cold conservatory...will my peppers still germinate or should I call it a day and start again?

I don't have the option to start more unless I chuck out what's in there already as propagator isn't big enough.

Thanks in advance for advice

how long before the power cut did you sow them?
If they hadn't started growing then they will have just remained dormant the four days, and will start when its warm & light.
Best of luck.... :)

id agree with above, but put an extra little pot in with about  20 seeds in it, just to cover you in case.

If they had been in the propagator for several weeks before the power cut then they were perhaps not at the correct temp, as they should have been up already.  In that case the power cut will not have made much difference - up the temp to about 80 degrees and keep watching.  :chili: :chili: :chili:
