Title: Black labrador
Post by: The Chicken Lady on February 08, 2012, 02:24:55 pm
A 5 star home awaits. We have a black labrador bitch who is 10 years old. She has cataracts and lost her friend just before Christmas. She likes the company of other dogs so we are looking for a friend for her. Puppies are a bit too much for her so we are looking for a bitch around 3 years old. Would consider one older or just slightly younger. It must be ok with other animals on the small holding and preferably ignor cats! All our animals free range so they will be able to go in and out as they please. Holly has a good relationship with the postman and anyone else that comes to visit us. We are on the list with the labrador rescue but are finding it hard to get anyone to speak to when we see a dog that would suit us. We would like a black one but would consider other colours. Please pm me if you know anyone that needs to rehome a labrador. Thanks

Have you looked at the 'Many Tears' web site, they have a number of ex breeding dogs, often labs, I have had four dogs from them and they are a joy to see bloom.

You could also try preloved - people are always looking for homes from there - I know a few people who have found excellent family pets from there.

For example

http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/104921927/free-to-good-home.html (http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/104921927/free-to-good-home.html)

http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/105117530/labrador.html (http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/105117530/labrador.html)

http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/105129734/black-labrador.html (http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/105129734/black-labrador.html)

http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/105082056/beautiful-pedigree-labrador.html (http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/105082056/beautiful-pedigree-labrador.html)

There are loads on there so may be worth a look - quite often when rescues get contacted by someone they suggest they try to rehome the dog themselves first so the dogs end up on sites like this - so you are helping "rescue" by preventing a dog ending up in one and the space going to another needy one,

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Had a phone call and a ticking off from the labrador rescue saying that I had rung the wrong person regarding dogs on the site. Not hopeful of getting one from there as the woman told me that they have at least 50 people on the waiting list. Looked at preloved but want a bitch. Looked on many tears may take this further. Also found a website - pets4homes.com waiting to hear about one that sounds OK in the next village. Will let you know how I get on but if anyone hears of anything please let me know.

I have a chocolate lab - 7and half years old who we are looking to rehome because we are moving to Australia later in the year.  It is a very sad rehoming for us becuase she is also a huge part of our family.  She likes to mother and look after the cats but as with all chocolate labs, she cannot be left alone with food until she's allowed a nibble.  We are all very sad to rehome our animals (also 2 springer 4 year old bitches and 2 cats) but it would be nice if she went somewhere where she would be loved and looked after and I could keep in touch to see how she was doing.  I'm in Forfar x

7 1/2 is alittle older than we wanted - something around 3 would be better as our labrador is 10. Thanks anyway and we will get back to you if we do not find anything soon.

Many thanks for all your help. Going to look at a 4 year old yellow lab. tomorrow. Sounds just the job. Used to animals as lives on a farm. Has lived indoors but I think has been used for breeding - had 3 litters.
