Title: Wanted - smallholding to rent or buy, Notts or W.Lincs

Hello TAS'rs! Well, the daydreaming is over and we're moving out of London. The OH has secured research funding at Nottingham University! Back up north to me roots. Yeehaa!  :thumbsup:

So we are looking for a place, to buy or rent (easier to rent but keeping our options open):
Within 15 miles of Nottingham and (ideally) same to Grantham or Leicester
3 bedroom property
Some land - just a couple of acres. Thinking veg, bees, chickens, perhaps a couple of pigs

Budget (subject to a chat with mortgage advisor  :-\) would be 300k to buy, around £1000 to rent, maybe a little more.

Browsing all the property websites like mad, but would really appreciate any help or ideas.

What about this one - a bit less land than you want (1 acre) but theres poss of another up to 5 acres to rent next door. Its 20ish miles from Nottingham (well Newark is)

Will be going up there in a couple of weeks and might try to get a viewing in.

There is a property coming up for sale in our village, which is not yet on the market, and has a field  next to it which is apparently also up for sale. The field is in the centre of the village and might not be best for pigs - currently grazed by ponies. Brown and Co (Melton) are handling the sale - Ben Wills would be the person to speak to.  The property needs work, but rumours are that the property and land together would be within your budget. We are near a52 (nearer Grantham than Nottingham.)

Good luck with finding a place.
We looked in that area but could not afford it and keep working. - we cashed our chips in - gave up work and bought a place in France - the surplus cash has taken a big hit but we have what we dreamt of and need very little cash on a month to month basis. We fly to East Midlands or Stansted if I need to earn a bit.

good luck with the search and hope you get the lifestyle you want.
