Title: First pigs off to abattoir
Post by: RonMinch on February 03, 2012, 12:43:05 pm
Hi All, We have our first weaners ready for the abattoir, they are booked in for Monday and the butcher is OK with this. I have the aml2 form printed from the internet and filled in but also mentioned as a requirement was they FCI form, do we also need to complete one of these? Any information greatly appreciated. Ron

Presuming that :
you're in England or wales, and
that you have done the AML2 on-line - ie registered with BPEX, and set up a movement and
You completed the parts about medical treatment etc.

- then no, the abattoir will get both movement and FCI info direct from the system

Having said that may still need one copy of the AML2 form to act as your ATC (animal transport certificate) - although this isn't needed in some/many cases, but its better to have it in case.

It is also worth taking an additional copy of the AML2 for the abattoir - many lairage men are not keen to take animals with no proof that you have done the electronic bit!

If you're in Scotland come back and we'll get a definiate answer for you, I still haven't got my head round what they now do in terms of electronic forms, ATC's and FCI's.  Robert or other Scots - presumably you do an electronic submission, then use the pro-forma emailed to you to act as ATC, is there another form for FCI or does the email version cover both?

If you stay in Scotland, you must provide the abattoir with the FCI, wither it is for your own use or not.
Oaklands, for your benefit, in Scotland we either contact the animal movement authority about the movement either by POST, EMAIL OR TELEPHONE. Scotland paperwork seems to be easier to do than the English paperwork.
The FCI information is on the electronic and you must hand a copy of the FCI to the abattoir when the animals are off loaded. :farmer:

Thanks for the replies, yes we are in England, I was told by the abattoir to just fill in the AML2. We have reg with BPEX but not used this as this is not a requirement until 1-04-12. Animal welfare have faxed me the FCI which I will complete and take with me. Hope every thing goes to plan! Ron.
