That's what I told the girls. If I had taken their eggs away they would have gone and nested in the wooded bank next to the field and then they would have been Mr Fox's dinner. I've tried it before and that is exactly what happened. When these girls get the urge to nest there is no way that I have found to stop them. ::)

we use to have ducks like that at the pond at work ... haven't seen them for a while though :-/

ahh shes gorgeous, we used to have a muscovy but sold her after the drake got taken by a fox. she was desperate to have babies and sat on about 30 eggs for months. she had a new partner in her new home. she looks very similar to your girl tho. are they purebred ducklings? lovely
