Two empty ewe lambs! which is fine, they were too young and I am too inexperienced for lambing and kidding at the same time! Vet did at first think he'd seen a lamb and said "she's pregnant" but then went back and realised that it wasn't foetal parts he saw but faecal ;)
he does know of someone with lots of sheep who will be looking for home for triplets/orphans and this farmer always makes sure of colostrum and will not knowingly give me unhealthy lambs apparently. Vet speaks very highly of him and will be kgiving him my number.

Good result in many ways - they have more time to grow and you can decide if you want to breed from then in a years time, or just have them as lawnmowers...
They will still need new eartags and a Heptavac booster in spring, but other than that some hay is all they need just now.
I guess your OH is relieved too....

Good news Plums :thumbsup: They will have time to grow before having to carry lambs and you will have time to enjoy them without the stress of having to learn all about lambing in a rush. It also means the others were not in lamb, so that's another stressor gone :wave:

Yes - it is a relief. When the vet thought the first one was pg to start with I said "oh, no that' means we've let pregnant sheep be slaughtered" and i did feel upset. but then it was a relief that they most likely were not.
Have spoken to AH today - will get onto SFS now for tags. It means I can re-worm the mucky bum girl and heptavac in a couple of months. Feeling quite relaxed.
Hubby was chuffed (boo, misery!! LOL) I did ask about some little lambs out of hubby's earshot and just told him the vet is lining me up with some teenies. He just said "oh, ok". ;)

Hurrah!! Im really pleased. See, good things DO sometimes happen to the good guys and gals, it just doesnt seem like that at times.
I bet your scanner ;D was bemused at you being pleased at the empty results!

Absolutely!! It was a relief that' they'd not sent them to slaughter in lamb.(or at least we can assume it was most unlikely now)

well when he got it wrong at first I'd said "yay - babies!" then he realised they were empty and I was able then to say I was relieved for the reasons above. as well as they are too young.
so now, we can have some tiny babies to rear (5 yr old daughter thrilled as that's all she wanted from santa, the easter bunny, the birthday fairy - you name it this year!) and I can concentrate on my diddy flock :)

Oh, I think that's a good result all round. And yes, I'm sure if you're up for it, there will be some cute lambs to bottle-rear ;D

Excellent all round :thumbsup: We bought our first three ewes as ewe lambs and it was nice to have them for a year and get to know them (and vice versa) before lambing.

Yes we did - Vet unable to say how many in there as Puffin (having had her tummy shaved first!) was very restless and we didn't want to stress her further. did see at least one wiggly little kid though which was lovely!

our first lambs were bottle fed triplets. they got lost at the abattoir so we never got them back, but to be honest we didnt really want to eat them so it wasnt such a big deal.

It's nice that you will have time to get to know your sheep and can choose for yourself when you want them to lamb :). I got into sheep by having six cade lambs given to me, four were ewes and apart from the bottle feeding frenzy I got a fast introduction into lamb ailments when one got an eye infection which spread to all the others, then another one got orfe, then another nearly died of fly strike! So from knowing absolutely nothing about sheep had to deal with all sorts of things very quickly and it was a steep learning curve (which gets ever steeper ::)).
I have to say though when I got myself a ram and subsequently helped deliver all the first babies it was a very magical moment for me :love:
