anyone purchased a domestic cheaper meat slicer.................. is it any good,,,, also looking at used commercial ones on ebay
-
We have one.
Ours sounds like a demented swarm of wasps, takes two of us to cotrol -one to hold the machine, and one for the meat - the cutting width slowly changes with pressure so needs adjusting regularly, and it is a fiddle to clean.
However we only use it a couple of times a year, and it doesn't take up the space of a full size machine.

we have one it has about 20 settings for the thickness we possibly use it a handfull of times a month cheap as chips cant remember if it was from aldi or lidl but they both do them and they all come with a 3 year waranty, its so easy to use and strips right down for cleaning.
well worth watching out for

I have a cheeper domestic one and it works fine I think it could be a case of "get what you pay for".

Hi, I brought a £59 slicer to slice my bacon only to find that it can't actually cater for the width of the meat to be sliced....... I have to start by angling the meat up at the blade end and then running it through.... interestingly this dimension isn't one I've seen published. Cheap ones like this tend to give min / max thickness setting and blade diameter.... beware these cheaper makes.

We got one for £54 , it came with three blades ,does a reasonable job as long as you take your time, the cutting width is adjustable and as long as you remember it is limited to the diameter of the blade, not bad for the money.

We bought a secondhand Berkel (looks like those in the shops) on ebay, paid £245 instead of £2000+. Weighs a ton but slices beautifully.

I bought a secondhand Berkel from my butcher he had a spare one, like you do. Paid £150 and its brilliant but as Eve says very heavy.
