Hi, another newbie.
I currently live in a city but am looking to move in the next year so that the OH and I can start living a more sustainable life. Currently have ducks, bees and quails together with 2 pampered cats and a veg patch that produces the occasional treat to feed the soul.
Pigs and sheep would be the first things we want to get when we have the space so looking to learn as much as possible in advance.

Let me be the first to welcome you, Beeducked  from wet and cold Clackmannan. Which city are you near? There may be a TASer enar you! ;D

I'm in Liverpool but its amazing what you can do in a semi-detached if you put your mind to it!
The bees love it with all the trees and parks too! Hoping to move to Shropshire but it all depends on the job situation so have to wait and see.
Thanks for the lovely welcome.

 Hi and welcome from one who has already made it to Shropshire. It's a beautiful county. My daughter is in Liverpool - Garston - so we know the area. Shropshire is much better though. ;D

THat crisp here must be referring to my fingers, they are that crisp they may just drop off..........anyway, hi again and ment to say, all I have now is chickens and dogs but we did intend to rent some land off a mate to put livestock on but not so sure now!!!!!!!!

Hi Beeducked and welcome to the forum from another newcomer currently living in Staffordshire. I used to live in Shrewsbury and we went out into the countryside every Sunday as a child. Lovely County, nice people. It's good to always have a goal and strive to achieve it I believe. Otherwise life is passing you by. Last thing you want is to look back on a series of 'wish we had done's'. So every success in your new venture. I would spend the time between now and your move collecting information and establishing contacts for the future.

Welcome from a sunny Brittany.
A garden and allotments were my saviour when I had to live in towns/cities because of work commitments.............. A move to Cornwall to 11 hectares was a revelation and, now downsized to 2 hectares retirement (hah!). Follow your dreams whichever way you can - even if it is not exactly what you want to start with..............
-
Yes, the garden, ducks and bees are my saviours (particularly of my sanity! :D)
I can spend hours just sitting and watching the bees come and go.
I've just had enough of city living and need more space. If the move to Shropshire doesn't work out, I'm sure something else will turn up in the end. In the meantime will just keep reading!

Welcome from a snowy Limousin.
I hope you get the job and make the move to the new life you want.
It's not all mud - sometimes its frozen solid !! The dog stayed inside this morning, the duck hutch lock was frozen, all water troughs frozen and the pigs won't get out of bed !!
Hope you live the dream soon !
Martin

Welcome Beeducked, we made the move from brum to North wales last year and this forum has been fab - wish I had found it at the 'dreaming' stage too! Enjoy the WHOLE process from right now!
-
Yes your right Miss Piggy - wonderfully frozen today - lovely hard ground - out all day building new goat shed and just perfect for that until the goats invaded the 'build area'
-
Goats are good at that.
-
Well the dreaming has just got a bit more serious as I have just got a permenent job in Shrewsbury so now there is no stopping us! ;D
Well just have to sell our house and find a lovely one with a bit of land here and then we can move the ducks and the bees and the quail and live muddily ever after!
