hello everybody ,
we are a small family in somerset who have been offered some agricultural land ( around 7 acres) my partners dad owns it , but now lives in nz so we have the oppurtunity to own a portion and use the rest as some kind of small holding , after a few months of thinking and having our second child we have both decided that getting pigs would be our love.....we are also considering trying to get planning eventually and maybe getting a caravan/log cabin,
Any advice in these matters would be appreciated , the land has 3 phase electric ,water a large barn with stables.
rare breed pigs sound exciting to us too.
thanks

Hello, and welcome to the forums.
The place sounds great, having water and a barn will be a real boon.
There are lots of people on here who can help you, and the main TAS site has guides to the most popular livestock, and are worth reading: http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/livestock/ (http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/livestock/)
If you're not sure which breed of pig will be best for you then just ask - there will be plenty of opinions willingly given. :D

Hi, welcome from Dorset. What a wonderful opportunity, grab it with both hands. It will be great for the whole family, especially your children. I wish mine were younger when I started keeping livestock.

Welcome from Worcestershire
nothing like bringing up children in this environment, we've been so lucky that our 4 are still young enough to really enjoy it. Good luck with your plans!
