Title: Chernobyl families - 'healthy holiday'
Post by: plumseverywhere on January 16, 2012, 06:58:39 pm
Hubby and I are interested in supporting a charity that brings mums and children over from Belarus for what they call 'healthy holiday's or 'fresh air' holidays.
Because we already have my disabled and poorly mum plus the 4 children I don't think offering the month of holiday here is an option for us (yet  :-\) but we have offered a day at our holding so that the children can enjoy fresh air, nice scenery, animals and a picnic and the organisers are keen to take us up on it.

I'd like to really make this day something very special so would appreciate any words, tips or ideas that anyone might have?

Anyone local to us (near Evesham, WOrcestershire) that would like to contribute, please let me know!

Beautiful idea  :bouquet:

How about a mini goody basket (a bit of goat soap, pot of jam?) that they can take back to their temporary home? Not sure how customs would work sending homemade goodies abroad  :D

Maybe older kids could milk a goat? Show them a few steps of what you do? Or are they rural kids that might know that already?

Well done you :bouquet:

I think a local goodie bag's a great idea - and the sort of thing local businesses will buy into.

Someone near us is involved in this - they have fund raisers to raise money to take the children on trips while here.
Just to be out in the fresh air, will be a treat for them I am sure.  They do not have much, so I am sure even a small token gift will be gratefully accepted.
