Title: Shropshire area
Post by: Lesley Silvester on January 14, 2012, 09:27:49 pm
There seems to be a growing number of people on here who are in Shropshire or close by.  I would love to arrange a get together if anyone else is interested.  I am in south Telford, which seems to be fairly central and am happy to host something subject to numbers.  Am also open to suggestions, such as a room in a pub.  Let me know what you think and also what day and time would suit.

Great.  Hopefully we'll get a few more interested.  I'll PM everyone when I have a few more names.

At the moment somewhere near Telford is looking fairly central.  I check out a few pubs.  How will we know each other?  Green wellies and straw in our mouths?

Of course you can.  You're plans are to move down this way anyway, aren't they, so you can meet us all before youmake the move.  So far it looks like Telford is fairly central to all ( and nice for me as I won't have to travel far) so how about a pub in Ironbridge?  Nice setting and we have some nice pubs.  Does lunchtime suit everyone?

Join the gang then.

There's a lovely pub down by the river in Jackfield but I can't remember it's name so will need to find out.  Is a Saturday best for everyone?  I can do 11th or 25th Feb or 3rd,10th, 24th March.  How about the rest of you?  And what about time?  I would suggest maybe meeting for lunch (they do nice food there) as we mostly have animals to see to in the evenings?

Not sure if the following is of interest to any of you or if its too far but i'll tag it on just in case but it is a smallholder group run by smallholder on a monthly basis with a different talk each month and then a get together afterward and you can sell and swap stuff or just pick people's brains, come along and check us out

Shropshire Smallholders February meeting
Shropshire Smallholder Group
Thursday 9th February 7.30pm

Keeping bees on a small holding by Jo Schup

Jo was the recipient of the Wax Chandlers Award 2011 as she gained high marks in both the theory and practical exams en-route to becoming a Master Beekeeper. She also has great experience as a seasonal bee inspector and in training in a wide variety of beekeeping topics.

At the meeting there will, also, be:
The Members’ Exchange time, which will include the opportunity for
any announcements about items for sale or wanted.
The raffle.
The Members’ Table, where you can sell any smallholder items.
As usual we will round off the evening with a two-course meal. There is a charge for the meal of £6.00 per person (£2.50 for child under 10 yrs of age) but, please note that booked meals have to be paid for even if you are unable to attend the meeting as an outside caterer provides the food. If you would like a vegetarian meal please request this when booking. To book for the talk and/or the meal please contact Paula Raymond by e mail to [email protected] or by ‘phone on 01743
873986. Meals must be booked by the evening of Sunday 5th February at the latest.
All bookings are important (whether you are staying for a meal or not). Guests and visitors are welcome at the meetings and there is an entrance fee of £1 & £3 respectively. Meetings are free for members.
Looking forward to seeing you there

More the merrier.  As soon as the nasty white stuff goes, I will visit the pub I have in mind and see what they can offer us, then let everyone know.
