I see by the news that the new rail link has got the green light, seems such a pity going though
beautiful country side and farms.Same thing was to happen here in the form of a duel carrage way.
The Irish gov. who were to part fund this ran out of money so at the moment everything is in hold.
To the relief of farmers and householders. There was a campain sat up , don't think anyone listened.

Just don't get me started on train-lines! I've been fighting Network Rail Scotland, Transport Scotland, DB Schenker, Scottish Power and Clackmannanshire Council fro three years and still can't get heavy coal trains stopped going through the night and keeping everyone awake. Best I've managed to get so far is special fencing, but at least I've got a local MSP on my side, (Richard Simpson) even though another one (Bill Walker) promised and then turned coat tails.
Which rail link is this?

HS2, between London and Birmingham.
They rejected an alternative route that would add a short amount of journey time, but would avoid the high-natural-value areas AND link to Heathrow. Which would have been handy. http://www.uxbridgegazette.co.uk/west-london-news/high-speed-rail/2011/11/08/mps-back-hs2-despite-damning-criticism-113046-29737493/ (http://www.uxbridgegazette.co.uk/west-london-news/high-speed-rail/2011/11/08/mps-back-hs2-despite-damning-criticism-113046-29737493/)

What I don't understand is that ll these people in 'high' places are normal sensible people at home but when they get into a position of power common sense disappears.
