Title: Sheep lost the end of ear
Post by: jaykay on January 07, 2012, 05:18:23 pm
My grey katmoget ewe has lost the end of her ear. Nothing to do with the tag, which is still properly in and much further towards her head.

She's lost about 2cm, in a semicircle inwards, it's quite noticeable, when i was feeding in the daylight today as opposed to in the dark all week. To be honest it looks like a bite out of it (human-style :o) though the edges aren't raw - but as I said it could have happened a while ago. It's not been cold enough this winter for frostbite yet.

Any ideas?

Edited for spelling  ::)

Couldn't be barbed wire / caught between fence wires could it?

I'll try to get a photo today. No barbed wire, stone walls on three sides of field, stock fencing on one side. It's very odd (looks odd too)
