Title: New to TAS
Post by: anderso on January 04, 2012, 12:48:25 pm
Hi to all out there in the big world - we that's ugly me and goodlooking,  1 sheep dog, lots of hens, 3 ducks, a couple of million bees, (in the summer) and a bit of veg land in the west country. we have been growing for our self's and gifts for family, for the past couple of years and have just started being able to put the for sale sign up at the gate. (and got some buyers)

We don't see ourselves as ever being self sufficient (unless we win the Euros and buy an island) but we are working towards being less dependant on the greater world.

Have a great year.

  Hi and welcome from windy Shropshire.  I've only got a large back garden but manage to produce milk, veg and fruit.  Not as much as I'd like either but it's better than nothing.

Hi Anderso and welcome from Staffordshire. Self sufficiency is a target that realistically I doubt many will achieve so your goal of being simply less dependent is a realistic one. We sell our eggs but pamper our chickens, so any profit ends up on medication or vets fees. Break even would be good but then we factor in capital costs and maintenance and ........ we're still broke!
