Two lovely mugs (yes, mine had piggies on), two calendars (one donor visits, the other not - but I like both calendars... ::)), various odds and ends, all useful and/or nice, and, despite having said we weren't bothering since we both just wanted each other (aaaah!!), a ludicrously large bouquet and table-sized box of posh chox. :Spoilt:

We got out to the pub in the afternoon and had a lovely dinner, been a really nice christmas here, weather has been warmish even thought its been raining.
I got a new jacket, socks and pants from santa - I felt clean and fresh when I got up and dressed this morning, though soon ruined that after a day of walking round in mud, scratching my arse and lifting muddy objects around.
I also had a Brian Cox book on quantum physics to read while I am on the toilet. - note to self, must put door on toilet sometime this year to allow for extra reading time. ;)

Santa brought me a large pack of antiobiotics courtesy of a hurried trip to A&E on Xmas eve along with a ban on drinking alcohol for a week. Oh well, New Year resolution was going to be a month off, so just started a bit early!
-
OH bought me a colander - old French one. Sounds strange but I collect them

I'm nearly 60 and a bloke so more detail is perhaps unnecessary except that the doctor and I mostly talked b*****ks. Then he prescribed the wrong antibiotic so I was back in A+E yesterday for the right one, which is working very quickly. My GP is 65 and fantastic because he's ahead of me getting all the problems and I benefit from his experience. He gets free honey and stuff.....
Verity, our vet, was stood on by one of her ungrateful patients and broke some bones. Attending the fracture clinic at the same hospital she read her notes and then corrected them. The doctor had misread the X-rays. Its aways a confidence booster when 8 days after the break he announces that the bones have knit when the x-ray shows a large gap.

Just hope I don't have to use your A&E department any time soon....

Scary, isn't it? We put our trust in doctors and most of them are fine but then you get the odd one or two.... :(
-
We do have the most wonderful minor injuries unit at St Albans which is nurse-led and GP supported. This means a bunch of no-nonsense experienced nurses who can deal with most situations. It's quick and efficient but the opposite direction from the A&E proper.
I don't want to knock the Luton & Dunstable hospital because it's doing a difficult job and stuff happens. It has improved dramatically of late, and you never want to be in hospital anyway. Getting quite a taste for Oromorph too!
-
Glad to see you are on the mend waterhouse, keep taking the tablets

Thank you
I went to see my GP yesterday. He'd heard nothing from A&E (NHS data sharing failure again) and spent the time to listen and then explain. So reassuring.
My immediate neighbour is a GP in the same practice but I avoid going to her simply because she's a good friend. I think it would confuse the relationship. We are fortunate that the practice has great technology support so that one can book the GP of choice, or specify male or female, and they hold back a batch of appointments for the day. How is it that iSoft could make such a pigs ear of the wider NHS project?

Too many chiefs and not enough indians I suspect.
