Title: Pig Palace for Winter Quarters
Post by: AndrewMawson on December 25, 2011, 11:48:30 am
Having perforce had a few winters where the pig area was a quagmire, I decided this winter to make them a rather posh pen and keep them on concrete until the spring. Loosely based on the old 'cottagers sty', but as it's in a highly visible parts of the farm it had to 'look ok' (I was told!!!)

Might be tempted to move in myself - much better than my old dairy that I use as my workshop come refuge from discussions of things female that she and MIL somehow find interesting!

Have a great christmas

It's better insulated than our farm house! The sty has a 'ceiling' to cut down the volume to heat, and has 200 mm of rockwool on top !

Stunning !
I have dreams of one day building a wee rotunda for my Kunes with either a thatched or shingle roof, but this would be great too (if you're ever in Scotland with a spare couple of weeks I might have a job for you  ;) ;D)
I hope your pigs know how spoilt & lucky they are  :D

Wow - a very impressive construction. Shows how differently we all address the challenge of pig homes. We have little spare cash and I am fundamentally mean so no chance of my pigs living in such luxury .

If we all shared photos of our pig houses I'm sure that you yours would win.
There's an idea ! Pig House of the year 2012 :trophy: :trophy: !!!!!!
