Title: Oh s**t
Post by: Daisys Mum on December 24, 2011, 06:49:06 pm

Oops! the goose is to big for the oven, do you think it will be ok if I just take the legs off and tuck them in at the sides. I have never cooked one before, may need to trim the back end too.

I'm sure it'll be fine!
Just be sure to give it plenty of cooking time....

Had to do the same for a turkey a few years ago - it was fine - and lasted us, dogs and cats for ages!! Good luck with your cooking

i was watching a cooking programme the other day (raymond blanc - mmmm) and he said ur spose to cut off legs and cook for a bit first as they cook slower than rest. so it shouldnt matter.
iv never tried goose, wasnt brave enough to eat them wen we had them. wish i had tho.

Well I took the legs off, wrapped them in foil and cooked them for 15 minutes before tucking them in beside the rest of the goose and it was delicious. OH agreed at the time but today has decided that he doesn't like goose
it "didn't agree with him" Huh!! more like the 3 beers and the bottle of red wine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Still have 2 geese in the freezer so it looks like he may be on cheese on toast at New Year and Easter.
