"BREAKING: Slight smell of dust burning across Scotland as third bars on electric fires are sparked up. #hurricanebawbag" charleslavery

". . . Dear Embra, Here huv aw oor discarded crisp pokes. Yours as ayeways, Glasgow. . . . #HurricaneBawbag" ScotsRon

"My only concern is that Fox and CNN will think it's actually called #HurricaneBawbag and report it directly as such. Och, maybe they should." ChristopherHarv

Well, the name's just been talked about on BBC Radio 4, including what it means  ;)

We had a trampoline come over a neighbour's fence and land on top of someone's car today  :o

trampoline's been wisely turned upside down weeks ago !  but the kids' climbing frame is stuck in the fence near the car (phew) and 10 panes of the greenhouse gone....picking up the glass now :'( The "exploding " wind turbine wasn't bad either !! Love the name, just fits  :P :&>

we missed out the letter A  and in true Scottish style bawbag should have been  a******e
just my thoughts
wind turbines not worth the bother since they don't work when it is windy
the poor guys window blown out     it was not secured to the walls as it should have been
the garage roofs blown off in Glasgow again not secured to the walls
i hope they were insured with nfu they will have a chance of a claim any other insurance company  not a chance of a claim :farmer:

Even as the storm hit users of Twitter found time to see the lighter side. They dubbed the winds 'Hurricane Bawbag' and by 3pm it was possible to buy T-shirts marking the occasion.  Typical Glaswegians, make jokes out of anything.  If the Americans can name their hurricanes, we can bl----y well do it to ours ;)

Anyone looked to see if the Squinty bridge is still Squinty? ;D

Just found this on google.  Again typical of us Scots/Glaswegians (I'm half one, Dad was from the Gorbals), poke fun at ourselves before anyone else does!

Please give generously!

Hurricane 'Bawbag' hit Glasgow this afternoon.

... 'Bawbag' decimated the Maryhill area causing approximately £45.00 worth of damage. Several priceless collections of mementos from Majorca and Seville were damaged beyond repair. Three historically important areas of burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals were confined to their homes and couldn't collect their Giros. Good news is Police expect incidences of looting, muggings and car crime to take a downturn during this period.

Forty-two asylum seekers were rescued from an apartment in Elmbank
Street , rescuers are going to search the second bedroom later today.

One resident, Bernadette O'Reilly, a 15 year old mother of 5 said "It gied me a pure fright so's it did. My little Chardonnay-Mercedes came running into ma bedroom greetin'. My youngest two, Tyler-Morgan and Natasha-Jordan-Jade slept through it all. Ah wiz still pure shaking when I was watching Jeremy Kyle, so ah wiz". Neighbour Joseph 'young young' McGurn said "The noise wiz tremendous. At first ah thoat it wiz the young team coming oot of The Bugle Bar, but it wiz even worser.

Rescue workers are still searching the rubble and have found quantities of personal belongings including Benefit books stock piles of Irn Bru.

An eyewitness said... 'BAWBAG MAY TAKE OUR GARDEN FURNITURE AND FENCES, BUT IT WILL NEVER TAKE OUR FREEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
